When Esther’s words were reported to Mordecai, he sent back this answer: “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”Esther 4:12-13 NIV
God blesses us so that we can be a blessing to others. Mordecai convicts Esther to stand up for her people by demonstrating how God blessed her with the opportunity to be queen with intention of saving His people. Mordecai puts things into perspective—you can choose not to live up to the calling on your life, however, you and your family may suffer unnecessarily, and the Lord will always make sure His will is carried out so while you miss the opportunity to bless others through your blessing, another will take the place made for you in His kingdom. Of course, obeying God’s call is not about an exchange of blessings. The point is, is that for every calling on your life or conviction to do or change something using the blessings poured unto you, it is important to be obedient because there are others depending on your obedience.
Be confident that if He has already put you in position, meaning you have the stability, you have the talent, you’ve received the call, whatever it is—it’s important not to second guess yourself. God works deliberately and always has a plan for us. Follow Him! It could mean the difference between mediocrity and blessing future generations or loved ones.
Meditation: Think about ways you can bless others with what you have been blessed with in life. Do you have a special skill or talent that could be applied to helping, teaching, or edifying others? Have you recently started making more money that you could help someone else with? Are there any family members or friends or acquaintances in your life that you could possibly assist in a hardship? Consider these opportunities, then pray for the strength to follow through on any calling you may be ignoring for fear of failure, lack, etc. Getting over that fear, walking with Him, and carrying out your duty could be the biggest blessing for someone in your life, and you’ll never know unless you are faithful to His call.
